おはら祭は、昭和24年から始まる南九州最大の祭りです。 鹿児島を代表する民謡「おはら節」や「鹿児島ハンヤ節」「渋谷音頭」にあわせて練り踊る「総踊り」を中心に、様々な催しが行われます。
 平成10年からは、鎌倉時代に渋谷氏が所領を得て一族をあげて薩摩に移住したという｢渋谷」と「鹿児島」の縁から、毎年5月中旬の土曜日・日曜日に、東京都渋谷区、道玄坂・文化村通りをメイン会場に「渋谷・鹿児島おはら祭」が開催されています。
 おはら祭で踊られる民謡の振付を紹介します。 機会があれば「踊り連」で一緒に踊りましょう。 スピーカーの音量を調整してお楽しみください。

 The Ohara Festival is the largest festival in southern Kyushu, beginning in 1949. It features various events centered around the "general dance, So-Odori" where participants dance together to Kagoshima's representative folk songs such as "Ohara-bushi", "Kagoshima Hanya-bushi," and "Shibuya Ondo."
  Since 1998, based on the historical connection between "Shibuya" and "Kagoshima"—where the Shibuya clan obtained lands during the Kamakura era (1185-1333) and relocated to Satsuma with their family, the "Shibuya-Kagoshima Ohara Festival" has been held annually on a Saturday and Sunday in mid-May, mainly along Dogenzaka and Bunkamura Street in Shibuya, Tokyo.
